Cafè Portebleue is a unique little restaurant at the heart of Verteuil sur Charente.

Situated in Verteuil sur Charente 16510, you’ll find our rustic little bistro at the foot of a fairytale Chateau. From here the streets wind down to the pretty Charente river, and our bustling restaurant is at the hub of village life.

Our philosophy is simple, great food, good French wine and a changing weekly menu using the freshest local ingredients. Our live music evenings draw in customers from all over the area as far as Cognac, Angouleme and beyond and we seek out the best local talent to perform for us. Whether you’re enjoying a well earned break , just visiting or live in Charente we know you’ll be back time and time again.

Inside, a toasty woodburning stove and the yellow glow of lanterns make for a warm winter welcome while in summer our terrace is the perfect spot to relax with a Pineau. We keep the decoration easy with exposed stonework and sand blasted beams, simply dressed with canvasses by local artists.
